Helical Systems will supply and install the steel foundation system using their GroundScrew twist piles. The system has been selected as it does not require site excavation and avoids use of corrosive concrete that kills tree roots. The system is minimal impact and can achieve depths below any strata liable to shrinkage.
Installation is by twisting the piles into the ground using a hydraulic torque motor, which can either be mounted on a small excavator or hand held to minimise ground compaction. A steel ring beam is attached to the tops of the GroundScrews for onward placement of the suspended floor and timber frame.
If required in the future, the GroundScrews can be unscrewed from the ground and the site returned to its original state.
