After many supply issues, the roof has finally been laid. Originally specified as Redland Duoplain the entire order was cancelled after 2 delivery reschedules. The roof was re-specified in Marley Ashmore plain tiles and these were delivered by SIG Roofing within 5 days from order.
The Marley Ashmore is a single lap, interlocking double plain tile manufactured in concrete. Each Ashmore tile has the surface appearance of 2 traditional double lap clay plain tiles. The hidden interlock offers faster installation and locking of each row of tiles to provide strength.
The colour finish is Old English Dark Red.
Fleet Roofing installed the concrete plain tiles using dry system hips and ridge to make a fully ventilated roof system. The 2 main tiled roofs were laid in half a day each.
The design of the roof required a lot of tile cutting around the hip and valley areas to fit to the edge profiles.
Plain tile flashing kits were installed around the Velux roof window units using metal soakers profiled to the plain tiles.
The roof was completed just ahead of record June rainfall which fully tested its water tightness. No issues were found that needed any attention!
