Beam & Block Suspended Floor Installed By LeRoc

The change to warmer weather allowed the concrete to cure to full strength, ready for LeRoc to install the suspended floor. The block and beam floor creates an underfloor ventilated cavity. This provides and area where the tree roots can exist without any long term disturbance to the building. The concrete building blocks were inserted between the beams and grouted with a sharp sand mix. The site was completed and the crane left site to return to Abingdon by 2pm.

Although not required, before closing in, the ground was hand dug over to remove any surface compaction from the tracked machines.

The crane arrived at 7:00 am having driven from Abingdon to unload the factory fabricated beams arriving on the flat bed lorries and place them correctly on the concrete ring beam.

The concrete building blocks were inserted between the beams and grouted with a sharp sand mix.

The finished floor may look flat, but the pre-stressed beams are slightly curved in their length and levelling will be needed in the next layers to create a level finished floor
